Fiction crossovers! Discuss the fantasy realms you'd like to see crossed!

Previous topic - Next topic
The topic's been on my mind for a little bit. I just got around to reading Unity by Chuck Sonnenberg (Sfdebris), had a Borg/Doctor match-up in mind, and figured I'd just make a new topic rather than needlessly inserting it into other threads.

As I said earlier, one of the big ones I'd like to see would be Star Trek/Doctor Who, with particular emphasis on what would happen if the Borg managed to assimilate some of the aliens and technologies from the Doctor Who universe. What would happen if the Borg integrated, say, Dalek technology into their ships? Or even Time Lord? Or what if the Master integrated a Tardis and a warp drive from a starfleet vessel and used it to literally warp the Time Vortex, allowing him to manipulate events without directly involving himself? Or even to possibly make a tunnel that he could use to pass back and forth through the lock on the last great time war, allowing him to selectively allow only certain things out of it? What if the borg used this opportunity to pass through the lock and assimilated the various technologies within, such as the nightmare child (whatever that is)? What if the Borg ended up assimilating previous versions of the doctor, or even the current version so that a previous incarnations had to face them?

If there was ever an opportunity for such a crossover to happen, I'd love for it to take place between one of those alternate universes, kinda like the one that the new series Cybermen came from. It'd allow the writer to end it in any way they pleased, a bit like when trapeze artists take the safety net away from below them as part of the act. Maybe they could pull a Marvel Zombies and have the Borg succeed in assimilating everything in its galaxy, and any encounters with this version would be about making sure they don't get out.

EDIT: Just had a thought, but it could possibly involve the mirror universe in Star Trek. I mean, they never explored what form the Borg took in that world, did they?

Anyway, what sort of crossovers have you wanted to see? Why and how would you like to see them?

I did a Star Trek/Babylon 5 crossover parody many years ago (before the last 5 episodes of season 1 aired). Search for "The Greater Enemy."

Just did a quick scan of the first few sentences. Had me in stitches. :-P That's definitely next on my list after Unity.

Here's another thought- Q decides to get involved in The Doctor, putting him through various tests?

Mirror Universe Borg?
Probably a race that developed full imersion simulations that isolated every member of Borg in completely unconnected cyberspace pockets.
Then the Voyager Crew gets sent to those Borg's homeworld and are trapped in the ancient machines and have to do some stuff to get out again. And at the end Neelix will make a joke about food.

In the Mirror Universe, the Borg would be the Libertarian Party--dedicated to individualism, but completely incapable of getting anything done.

Lol. That'd make them pretty bad villains, though, wouldn't it?

I thought the whole point of the mirror universe was that everything was a bit more violent, like it had been rebooted by Christopher Nolan or something. :-P

EDIT: Speaking of reboots, I just realized something. The JJ Abrams Star Trek movie technically rebooted every series of Trek (or, at least created a branching alternate universe in which those histories no longer apply). Original, TNG, DS9, Voyager, the movie series, all of them... except Enterprise.

That's like having the crew of the Enterprise killed with the only survivor being Wesley Crusher. Or the Voyager crew killed off except for Neelix, whose name I have difficulty saying without including it in some sort of death wish for that character.

I thought it was more of a flip-flop: the evil people were good and the good were evil.

Yet I guess JJ Abrams has jack for original ideas now since he's strongly hinting at a remake for Wrath of Khan

Not necessarily. I mean, what would you say if they rebooted Doctor Who and got rid of The Master?

And besides, it's just that one point where everything changed. Khan (and the crew of the Botany Bay) is still out there somewhere.

Not to mention, Khan is such a good counterpoint to Kirk in the same way The Master is to The Doctor. There's a reason why Wrath of Khan is remembered as one of, if not the, best Trek movies/stories.

But I think they could do to get rid of the misogyny that was in Space Seed. I mean, Lieutenant McGivers alone set the women's movement back about 2 decades. :-P And if you doubt that, watch the episode again.

EDIT: Okay, I'm on chapter 23 of Unity's second arc, and it aggravates me that this guy with no formal training in writing and who's never done anything professionally like that has somehow managed to write Janeway's character in a way that's actually interesting without even breaking with the established aspects of her behavior from the show. On the contrary, everything seems to follow logically from her actions and attitude in the show. And it worked. I'd almost go so far as to say he's pulled off the literary equivalent of turning lead into gold (although it didn't happen until the second arc).

How in the HELL did Brannon Braga, Kenneth Biller, and Jeri Taylor all apparently fail to do this?!

Sorry. I guess I'm still a little sore about Voyager sucking that badly. I mean, I grew up on TNG and DS9 (when I could catch it. My parents were a bit strict about bedtimes.). Seeing it go downhill like that, it's a bit like someone taking out your favorite toys from when you were a kid and smashing them in front of you. Enterprise was taking the pieces and incinerating them, laughing at you as you watched them burn. Then again, I still occasionally watch power rangers, so I may be more partial to childhood toys than most. :-P

I wouldn't mind seeing the heroes of the Elder Scrolls games face off against the heroes of the Fable games honestly, even though the Elder Scrolls Heroes would immensely destroy them.

I can't believe no one's mentioned the obvious yet: Twilight meets Buffy the Vampire Slayer!

Those Twilight wimps wouldn't last 5 minutes. You'd never make an episode out of it!

No need to. Someone else has it all taken care of.

That's Blade/Twilight, not Buffy/Twilight.

How about this: Blade/Buffy/Castlevania. Dracula from the Castlevania games, seeing the vampires of this universe as an affront to everything the Vampires represent, wipe every last one of them off the face of the earth. He then uses the wimpy, dim-witted populace of this realm to forge an army of true vampires, then setting his sights on other worlds where vampire hunters dwell. This results in a team up between Buffy, Angel, Blade, Alucard, and the Belmont family.

Though, personally, I'd just settle for the first half. It'd be fun to watch Dracula tear those idiots apart, despite the power difference being comparable to the Death Star superlaser VS a Kleenex.
