Ok, fuck my co-workers right now. I have to work seven hours a day, cleaning toilets, washing dishes and carrying all the heavy shit you can't and you complain about working 4-5 hours as a waitress?!?
My manager (my Mom) happens to work 7:30am to 4:00pm regularly and does doubles constants!
Assholes!

How dare you complain about working 7 hrs a day! (j.k) For your Mom no less, you should work 13 hours a day FOR FREE!

So, I just got a notice about the resolution of a formal complaint filed against me by another parent.  Those helicopter parents of adults piss me off, especially when they hover low.  They enable their kids so bad and never let them fail, so the kids never learn anything.  I've gotten beautifully written papers (and a large share of trash) in emails forwarded to me by the student.  Kids who can't string anything more than 10 words into a grammatically correct sentence.  I've had parents show up to class to take notes and one time to take a test(!) because, "Johnny is not feeling well today."  More than once, we have had them show up to, and expect to be a part of, the interviews for graduate school.  Apparently, that doesn't even compare to others; I've heard stories about kids that barely function without their parents, including inability to pick their own schedules, living arrangements, food, etc.  Oh, and if you ever give their kid a bad mark or grade, its because you hate their kid.

Speaking of which, back to my story.  I was in my office a month ago when a woman came in with a tirade.  I just sat there and let her vent about how I hate her kid, I'm persecuting him for being a Christian (she's read books about it, you see), have a personal vendetta, and on and on.  I let her go for awhile and finally asked what she was talking about.  She said that I failed her kid and wanted me to explain herself.  Now, I didn't fail any kids this semester in any classes; but that doesn't matter as I cannot discuss any kids information, especially specific grades, with anyone, except my direct superior and certain people in the administration, without written approval.  So I told her that I couldn't give her any information without said release form.  That wasn't good enough for her and she left in a huff.

Today, I got an email about a formal complaint (that she filed with the President of the university) that detailed her side of the story.  The last two sentences of the investigation reads, "The above facts naturally lead to the conclusion that the Aggrieved Party [referring to the student, as the complain was "filed" by him] is not, nor ever has been, a student of the Accused Faculty.  Therefore, the complaint is dismissed as unfounded and no notice of it will be placed in the Accused Faculty's permanent record."  Turns out the kid goes to the community college in town and a professor of one of his classes (which isn't even remotely close in subject matter) has the same last name as me.

The mother, who went to a different person, working in a different building, in a different school, that is a different CLASS of school, in a different part of the city, is the cause and result of those completely afunctional students.

I recall my father being irritated that I hadn't learned to forge his signature so that I could just approve my own report cards and permission slips back in highschool.

We actually had a waitress say that she wasn't going to show up because we were working her too hard.
You can imagine the fit Mom threw.

Dad was the same way too: it's annoying and a waste of time. usually, he'd be satisfied with most classes, tell me (as usual) to do better in Math (I'm not much good past arithmatic), and then sign the report card. when we started getting just a cheap piece of paper with our grades on it, he was visibly relieved.  same advice though: improve my math :P

I never did understand why they make students have their parents sign the report card: most people don't care too much, and even if they did, a guy wanting to get out of trouble would just forge it (and that happened a LOT).

on the other hand, the decision of the school to publicly post the end semester grades of all students was inspired. It's amazing how a person is better motivated when threatened with humiliation by his peers than scolding by his parents.

People dismissing the Star Wars Expanded Universe as "fanficiton" that "doesn't count" and saying that this reboot is such a great thing for the franchise. I am ery ery sick of them.

What about Star Wars getting all the credit for "innovations" that were actually done in other SF shows and movies? Sorry, people, but SW is the kindergarten of SF pop culture. Get over it.

If you are going to act like that, then why care about the reboot? If you still managed to enjoy all of it, despite "not counting" (to most people, from what I observe), then why can't you do the same after the reboot? I guess if they cancelled some ongoing storyline because of this, I guess it would suck, though.

Yeah I kinda feel the same way.

Team four star and Harry Potter: methods of rationality are in my opinion much better than the originals they are based on and they aren't even close to cannon.

It's complicated. Not only is it being discontinued except for reprints but one of the things that set Star Wars apart was that it had one unierse with one continuity across mediums. Nobody else really had that and now that all the information I invested in is apocryphal it seems......eh

Funny thing is, I know of no other universe where external media is considered canon. In Doctor Who, for example, none of the novels and audio adventures (as good as many of them were) are considered canon.

that's what made Star Wars unique and actualy the Big Fnish audios are definable canon.  It just pains me ebcause that's what I loved about Star Wars and now it's gone.
