Our illustrious Prime Minister decided it was taking too long for the Opposition Members to get themselves organized for a vote on the assisted death bill, so he decided to get physical about it.  He grabbed the Conservative Whip's arm, and in the process elbowed another MP in the chest.  (For those not familiar with the terminology used in English Parliamentary-derived systems, a Whip is a Member designated by their Party to oversee Party operations in the legislature, and enforce Party discipline.  This makes the Whip one of the most important Members in each Party, and someone to treat with even more respect than is the norm, which is pretty high inside the House itself.)  The result was a LOT of other Members denouncing the PM, and the vote being rather more delayed and the PM looking like a thug in the media.

"Thug life" Trudeau..

Sad family, really.

There was a younger brother who was killed in an avalanche 18 years ago.

There are places in the world where the only thing people know about Canada is that we had a Prime Minister (the father of the current one) who's wife (the mother of the current one) ran off with Mick Jagger.  The really sad part about that is she DIDN'T run off with Mick, she left Pierre and only took up with Mick afterwards.

The news media's fawning over the idiot has reached quite grotesque levels.  He's been repeatedly referred to as Canada's head of state, or as occupying the highest office in the land, both blatantly false.  The Queen is the head of state, and both she and the Governor General (who is not any sort of representative OF Canada, despite how some recent ones have insisted on acting, but is rather a representative TO Canada of Her Majesty) are senior to him.

My condolences. To lose a brother is always a terrible thing.

I didn't know about that.

(the whole Mick Jagger thing, not that the Trudea's are related).

So he's a mix between Obama (has charisma, people fawn over him, anyone against him labelled something bad, etc) and Bush Jr (comes from a political family, son of previous PM)? Oh dear...

And why do they keep calling him head of state then, if there are two people above him, one of whom happens to be a monarch...

He's either worse or better than that, because he was a teacher and studied engineering and environmental geography rather than just being in politics.

I suspect most of them don't know any better.  The rest probably wish he was.
