How well is that working out, by the way?

It seems to work at least as well as anything else in the liberty movement, with the possible exception of DownsizeDC (although it's hard to compare).

QuoteCorrect me if I'm wrong, but wasn't that an instance of corporatism?

Yeah, here's the question: why aren't we seeing these kinds of things with groceries? After all, food is a necessity.

It seems like whenever I see a story about corrupt or abusive cops, 2/3rds of the time it's about Houston.

The main one I'm aware of was that incident a few years back with the crime lab. There may be some more recent attempts to help fix that, though. They're apparently raising the required education for the officers and hiring more of them. I don't know if that's because they've been purging corrupt officers or if they've just been trying to get more officers on the street. I personally know a few current/former members of the HPD, but the subject of officer corruption hasn't come up in conversation.

According to them, we are!

QuoteActually we are being gouged at the supermarket for food prices as well....essentials (the milk, bread, produce etc....) has all gone up horribly within the last few years.

As to why? People can and do grow their own food? We can import it from overseas? We can't do that with Electricity

Cars are _very_ expensive here....also a global market. We can't get our electricity from overseas....it has to be produced here.

I wonder if I should show them the wonderful car centralized planning got us.

Got a press release about the electricity thing.  Already in the first two paragraphs we see evidence of goverment meddling afoot.

Oh, he just shot himself in the foot with that bit about price gouging at the supermarket!
The reason food/gas prices are so high is because of inflation.  Considering the dollar lost about 1/2 of it's value in the past year or so, I'm surprised they didn't rise even higher!

Most food prices are LOWER after adjusting for inflation. REAL prices of food are dropping. So where's this "gouging"?

Answer:  There is none.
Same could be said of gasoline in the past few years.

Rachel: It must be nice to be right all the time and know when everyone is wrong.

Hawkeye: Not really, everyone tends to resent you for it.

Hee hee!  ^^

Okay, seriously. This is starting to get agitating to watch.

Well, my girlfriend and I have chatted about it. We're going to visit New Hampshire and see if we like it. If we decide we'd like living there, we're joining the project. Don't know if that'll help much or anything.

Hey, every drop in the bucket helps!

Go ahead.  I have no delusions of changing their minds.  All I hope is that some bystanders see what I say and maybe give their pet beliefs a second thought or two.

That's a good thing to think. :)

Well, I've registered, but they haven't approved my account yet. Any idea when that's going to be?

By the way, about Kia saying that Hong Kong takes advantage of China's povert...

Trade and investment (2007)

    * Exports: $344.9 billion f.o.b., including re-exports[26]
          o Exports - partners: Mainland China 48.7%, USA 13.7%, Japan 4.5%, Germany 3.0%
          o Exports - commodities: clothing, textiles, footwear, electrical appliances, watches and clocks, toys, plastics, precious stones

    * Imports: $368.4 billion (2007)
          o Imports - partners: Mainland China 46.3%, Japan 10.0%, Taiwan 7.1%, Singapore 6.8%
          o Imports - commodities: foodstuffs, transport equipment, raw materials, semimanufactures, petroleum; a large share is re-exported

Look at imports VS exports in relation to mainland China.

The fact that a large amount is re-exported...is his entire argument...

...what?
