The FDA is accountable to Congress, which is elected by the people. To my knowledge, there hasn't been an issue with FDA regulation. We have remarkably few outbreaks of foodborne disease in a country of 300,000,000 people. The FDA keeps producers in line and everyone benefits. When an outbreak occurs, they investigate and determine the cause.

Unless you have proof that they're being bought and sold by 'any asshole with enough money', don't bring it up. You don't get to automatically assume corruption.
