What is wrong with this scenario?

Early this year I received a letter from my power company.
In it they told me: "Because of the increased competition on from other electricety providers
we have to raise the cost of our product. Have a nice day."
And I thought "Wait, what...?".

That's eerie.
I'm afraid to ask what that means.
"When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world—'No. You move.'"
-Captain America, Amazing Spider-Man 537

It means that my electricity bill will go up thanks to the competition having higher prices than my old power company. Or that now that the provider of my current current now is able to sell outside the country which of course decreases inland supply so the prices rise accordingly, or I live in bizzaro worls i.e. Switzerland. Or something like that.

Foreign Electricity....Electricety....sparky sparky companies. Mainly german, french and italian ones I think.

So, no proper competition from local startups, then?

Hehehehe now that's a funny thing to ask. Of course not, this is switzerland afterall.

It's worse here where I live.  I had a friend that just installed a geothermal heating system in their house.  They're generating their own heat and should be free and clear of the electrical and gas companies right?  Wrong the government still insists that they pay a utility fee to the local municipally mandated power company monopoly.  The company then "generously" rebates part of the fee back to them, because after all, it's much cheaper for them to make you pay for power they didn't produce, transport or maintain. ::)
