This Week's Quote: "And let no government imagine, that, to strip them of the power of defrauding their subjects, is to deprive them of a valuable privilege. A system of swindling can never be long lived, and must infallibly in the end produce much more loss than profit." —Jean-Baptiste Say

"Money is evil/don't idolize it"
Says the man sitting on billions of dollars worth of wealth...
"When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world—'No. You move.'"
-Captain America, Amazing Spider-Man 537

"A system of of swindling"?
Why is the "of" repeated?

Fuck Sylvia Brown.

As someone who has family members who continue to remain victims of these kind of frauds, I have a personal vendetta against them. As Penn said in the very first episode of Bullshit, it's not about the money, but about the desecration of memories.

Fuck it, I'm going to post the full quote:
QuoteBefore we bust up this party, god dammit we're gonna bust it up, we have to make it very clear where our hearts are. We have nothing but empathy for the people who experiencing the loss and grief of the death of a loved one. That guy who lost his mom rips my heart out. I'm a momma's boy whose mom died a couple years ago and I'll never get over it. Then my dad died at around the same time and I was very close to both of them. I love them so much there isn't a moment that goes by where I don't miss them. Houdini didn't REALLY go nuts busting these mediums until he lost his mom. Once you've felt that pure grief, seeing it exploited can take away your sense of humor. Once a loved one has died all we have is our memories of them. There's nothing more precious to me than my memories of my mom and dad. We don't give a rat's ass about the money these bastards are taking from the grief stricken. What we do care about deeply is the desecration of memories. These performance artists are in the very real sense motherfuckers. That poor guy's grieving memories of his mother are now all fucked up by somebody else's images. All he will ever have left of his mom are memories and this pig has pissed on those for a buck and a little unearned fame. I'm sure these lame fucks tell themselves that they're easing the grief, but skits for money cannot replace loving memories. How low do you have to be to exploit someone's true grief to sell some bullshit book?

Because it's that way on Wikiquote and I didn't double-check it.

In re IE

Boy I must be partially immune to pareiddolia, because I can barely make those marks out.
Working every day to expose the terrible price we pay for government.

The whole notion of "the gap" is nothing but an emotional appeal.  As long as the poorest are better off than before there really is no controversy to be found.

Or even the relatively poor. Or the working class, or... Well, you get the idea.

Off topic:

There are relatively few "poor" in the Western World; compared to many other places.

Hey shane, can you add me on skype?
