Oh so you're going to have your police and military discard their guns and vow never to threaten people with bodily harm again because you care oh so much about such matters?

Didn't think so.
I recently heard that the word heretic is derived from the greek work heriticos which means "able to choose"
The more you know...

I doubt the officials who said this have ever held a gun.
I may be wrong.

A long time ago, I heard this quote, attributed to Madman Mao:

"Political power flows from the barrel of a gun.  It is our policy that we hold the gun."

just goes to show: total ban is total fail...

Speaking of the total fail of a total ban...

Had the rate of violent crime involving handguns stopped going up in the UK yet?  As I recall, it started going up rather sharply after New Labour decided to ban all private ownership of handguns, and those were guns that couldn't have been acting as a deterrent, since the only place it was legally permissible to have a handgun before that was stored at a licensed shooting range.

I don't know about crimes with handguns going up, but robberies while people are home have gone up in the UK.

And isn't that weird?  I doesn't even have anything to do with the gun ban, since even before that handguns were not in homes anyway, and the criminals knew it.  It isn't just the removal of guns, but the governmental mentality behind it (which seeks to appear to be doing something by going after the easy target of the law-abiding, while ignoring actual crime) that does things like that.

I guess its more of government fucking things up, as usual.
