Sounds like a good idea to me. You're less likely to be attacked or robbed if everyone knows you're packing heat.

Is there some kind of procedure whenever they hire an anchor for the Young Turks to make sure the person is completely devoid of any capability for rational thought?

Do these guys think cop shows are realistic? Guy commits a crime and the cops are RIGHT THERE with their guns yelling, "Freeze! Police!"? No, cops mop up afterwards. They really aren't a deterrent because all criminals think they can get away with it.

I can vouch first hand when it comes to police incompetence. I've called the police quite a few times due to noise from my neighbors late at night and most of the time they don't even show up. Other times they just drive by (once everyone has dispersed) and once in a blue moon will they actually stop and go to the house, though by then they bring 5 squad cars and block our driveway!

And time after time, the courts--including the Supreme Court--have ruled that the police have no duty or obligation to protect you from criminals.

Honestly, noise complaints are always going to go way down on the list and when they do get answered it'll always be some rookie. Next time make it seem like your neighbors are dealing drugs, that'll get a swift response ;).

Actually....they do deal drugs. Usually the noise complaints we make are because they're fighting in the middle of the street. They finally arrested one of the dude's when he threatened to stab his cousin or some shit.

I got a response by calling about 4 nights in a row, and mentioning that it sounded like they were fighting outside the apartment and beat the hell out of my sister's car (both of which were true, btw, but we could never figure out just who beat up my sister's car or how to go a bout remedying it). About the fourth night, we got a knock on our door from the neighbor guy, who started shouting at us. We called again, and the noise stopped after that night. Apparently, they had gotten fined about $800. After a couple of months, they moved out. I felt a little bit guilty about that, but at least the noise stopped. Now the apartment they used to live in is occupied by a middle-aged couple who seem to keep to themselves.

One of the many reasons I don't watch them.

Not to mention the number of unsolved cases.  IIRC, the state police have a murder solve rate of about 12%.  That's pathetic.

Well, I can report to you guys another example of our inept police.

A gang of about 15 kids were standing in front of my house. They were friends with one of our neighbors. They technically didn't do anything, but we had a problem with one of them earlier today who tried to start a fight with one of my brothers, as well as this kid and a few of his friends were planning to jump one of my brother's friends. So anyway, suspicious of their activities, we decided to call the police to ask these kids (I say kids, but in reality they're roughly 18/19 year olds) to move away from our house (we were worried that they were going to slash the tires on the car or something like that.) An hour passed, they finally dispersed on their own, and not a single cop in site. It's a good thing that nothing actually happened, because chances are if they did decide to do something, and one of us went our of our way to stop them, that would be when the cops would show up to arrest the people trying to defend their god damned house in the first place. Cops are so worthless.

EDIT: Well apparently last night, this state had another case of inept cops.

QuoteNew Britian, Conn. (WTNH) - Late last night, New Britian Police responded to reports of a fight in progress, but by the time they arrived, things had turned deadly.
Police discovered a 20-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound.
The victim was transported to the Hospital of Central Connecticut New Britain Campus where he was pronounced dead.
The victim's name is not being released at this time.
David Lopez turned himself into police soon after the incident.
Lopez was charged with murder.
This incident is still under investigation.

What they failed to mention in the article, but mentioned during the actual broadcast this morning, was that the police were called at roughly 10 pm, yet didn't arrive until some time after 3am.

When people are led to believe that police and government are the only people qualified to protect us, and won't even allow any kind of competition, this is the kind of thing that is bound to happen.

Movies and TV shows are literally the only reason anyone respects or trusts cops, seriously.
