I'm really getting sick and tired of the news media spreading nonsense about the tea parties just because they're completely clueless about what they really are. Check out this expose:

The tea parties are NOT right-wing, and they're NOT funded by the rich for the rich. It's part of the growing libertarian movement that the press has never understood and still doesn't want to cover.

They made this big deal about how Obama (who received millions from giant corporations even before the nominations) was a grass-roots candidate, all the while marginalizing Ron Paul and now the tea parties. It's clear the news media wouldn't know a genuine grass-roots movement if they shove signs in their faces!!!

I think we should have these tea parties all over the world

Oh, god, I saw this...
It was sad.

Yes, this is definitely libertarian, NOT right-wing.

I did not really pay much attention to media coverage of the tea parties (other than The Daily Show and The Colbert Report), but the thought of it being a right-wing effort never crossed my mind. Although I doubt everyone involved was a staunch libertarian, most were people frustrated with high taxes.

Actually, the frustration is with high SPENDING. Cutting taxes does no good if the amount you cut them by just gets added on to the deficit. The tea parties are about cutting spending so that taxes AND the deficit can be cut.
