You can kind of hear him say "Do you believe in the theory of evolution" though it does sound very muffled.
Honestly, I don't really hold belief in evolution as an indicator as to whether or not he'd be a good President, which is what a lot of his detractors use when they can't use anything else. Provided he doesn't use his religious beliefs to try and force creationism in schools (and knowing his strict policy with the Constitution, he wouldn't.) then I have absolutely no problem with him and his evolution denial, even if I disagree with it.

And that's also something that bothered me back during the 08 elections. It seemed like the message about not voting for mcCain and Palin was less to keep creationists out of school, but more to keep creationists out of government. There are plenty of reasons not to vote for Palin & McCain before resorting to bigotry. We don't need to stoop to their level.
I've slowly become more jaded towards Ron Paul. His speech in Iowa about gay marriage and the Defense of Marriage Act hit home for me.

Also, I'm not a fan of libertarians who simply say "Let the states decide" regarding gay marriage, drug laws, or abortion. Would prefer "While I support legalizing X, it should be for the states to decide."
He's said directly many times that NO government--Federal or state--should be involved in marriage. Same with drug laws.

And last I checked, I thought Ron Paul considered education a state, not a federal issue, anyways. So as president, he would just leave education up to the states.

He actually is a pretty big champion of private schooling, though he has said mentioned local governments taking over the schools as not being a problem. I'm not entirely sure how he views that situation other than it's not the federal government's job.

OK. Well, yeah, that would be nice to know too. Really, it should go without saying that I'm against even state and local governments in education. :P

Here's the way I've always understood it. He has two different positions, one on what he would do as president, and one on what he would do as an elected state official. For the former, he keeps his positions strictly within the powers of the president. That's where the 'marriage as a state issue' part comes from. For the latter, it becomes 'what should the state government do', which is where the 'government should stay out of marriage' issue comes from. The two aren't contradictory, but simply based on what he would do given what position he would be placed in.

I watched that Republican debate this morning....it was brutal. Most of the candidates there were just awful.
I will admit though that seeing Ron Paul talking about heroin was one of the funniest things I've seen in a long time.
