Title: Uploading videos
Post by: Lord T Hawkeye on December 25, 2009, 06:45:53 PM
Okay, no political stuff this time.  Just a little help for a newbie.

I got a web cam for christmas and I've worked out how to record with it and everything but when I tried to upload it to youtube just to test it all out, it's been taking forever to upload even though it's only 11MB.  Any advice?  The vid is in WMV format.

I'm not terribly tech savy so any help would be appreciated.

Trust me, that's normal, it takes a while to upload stuff, especially videos unless you have a symmetrical (or something like that) high speed internet connection.

Over an hour?

Would be nice if it had a progress bar or something so I at least had an idea of what progress it was making.

Yeah, it's normal for it to take a long time.

Although, as someone who's done a LOT of this, I strongly recommend rendering your video as MP4 instead of WMV. WMV is rife with problems, whereas MP4 has always just worked for me.
