This Week's Quote: "The world faces a choice, by spending a relatively little amount of money on proven solutions, we can help poor farmers feed themselves and their families and continue writing the story of a steadily more equitable world. Or we can decide to tolerate a very different world in which one in seven people needlessly lives on the edge of starvation." —Bill Gates

yeah, how dare them damn ******s develop their agricultural infrastructure, and feed their own people?! We Europeans got to show them who is the master race are the truly progressive ones!

OK, in all seriousness: this is the most revolting news item I've heard. This irrational ban of GMO trade for Africans is simply murder by another name: anyone can see that these products can help the Africans as it has the Hindus. Bor is absolutely right: these people, in effect, need a big mug of STFO. And while I joked about it, I really cannot see how this halt on allowing Africans to choose what manner of crops they may or may not use is anything other than condescension by these "environmentalists" and their political tools--a.k.a. a form of racism of low-expectations. I mean this is what they're saying:

"we won't let you guys have GMO's, because we don't think you can decide for yourselves what works and what doesn't"

Perhaps the EU wants their farmers to go to back to using paraquat.
