Are you serious? WHEN did state governments have a "right" to define what a marriage is? NEVER! There are state's rights and then there are individual rights. Former cannot be used to infringe on the latter, and the very act of defining a marriage is doing EXACTLY that! That is what the SCOTUS is overturning.
Actually, there are no state rights, only state powers. There are no rights other than individual rights.
