Title: FCC and what we can do
Post by: ArtemisVale on January 12, 2015, 08:28:51 PM
So because people are a bunch of mouth breathers who think the state can magically solve all our problems, what will happen if the FCC declares the Internet a public utility and what can we do to get around this bullshit?

I doubt it'll change much, actually. Local Internet providers are monopolies in a mercantilist system; making them public utilities will just formalize that. Best case scenario: when people see the failure that is to come, they'll realize that ALL public utilities are just artificial monopolies made so political cronies can profit--or, as The Mentor said, a service that "could be dirt-cheap if it wasn't run by profiteering gluttons."

Anyone who treats profit like it's a dirt y word is a hypocrite - Lord Hawkeye.

Sorry I couldn't resist.
