Title: False DMCAs
Post by: Travis Retriever on August 19, 2014, 05:04:18 PM
Okay, so because I'm planning on mirroring a few videos (the one from Mundane Matt, and the other from InternetAristocrat) on the issue of Quinn and them.  Because chances are they will be targeted for bogus copyright claim via the DMCA, I want to ask how's the best way to deal with that if it happens (other than not having a DMCA law, natch).

Just file a counternotice after that happens. Of course, it'll mean giving them your personal info (and DON'T get me started on that!).

You could incorporate yourself and give corporate information. (With a P.O. Box for an address and an answering service for a telephone.)

That said, isn't it FUBAB how a DMCA can be claimed against you with no information beyond "XYZ Entertainment has filed a take down notice", but you have to give your full information to respond to it? Talk about intimidation (They're hoping the fear of them having said information will stop you from filing the counterclaim.)
