Title: Idiot Extraordinaire: Jasmuheen
Post by: BlameThe1st on June 13, 2014, 06:41:19 PM
If I told you there were people who believed that you could live without either food or water, and instead claimed you could rely on sunlight and air for nutrients, you'd think I was making that up. But no! These people exist. They're called "breatharians", and their lead crank is Jasmuheen. Her teachings are actually well known enough to have been linked to several deaths. (Yes, sadly, people are this gullible!)

This woman had been put to the test by being placed in a hotel room without food and water where she could be closely monitored. As could be expected, she began starving to death, and the experiment was terminated to avoid risking her health:

So after finally having her ideas tested and proven to be wrong, you'd think this woman would recant them. But no. That'd be assuming she were rational, which she clearly isn't. Instead, she continues to stand by them. This is what she recently had to say in an interview. (Prepare to faceplam):

QuoteWhat was recorded, what was presented to the world was not my truth, was not how I interpreted it.

"That's not my truth. That's not how I interpret it." If this doesn't qualify her as an Idiot Extraordinaire, I don't know what will.

As someone getting more and more involved in the online fitness community in the past few months, yeah, this is probably the most idiotic 'diet' I've yet to run across...good lord lady.
