Actually, the only real myth he's promoting is the second one (that idea that foreign aid, at least as we have known it, is beneficial). The other two are quite true: There's no reason that poor countries or regions must stay poor, and no reason that preventing the preventable deaths of people who already exist would cause overpopulation (provided those people have access to adequate fertility control measures so they can control how many children they have).
The problem is that the myth of effective, useful foreign aid is so destructive that it completely overwhelms the sane things he's saying in other places.
Foreign aid programs, as they have been done, are not only ineffective, they are arrogant and patronizing. Even NGOs fall into this trap.
And if you want to get told off in a big hurry, ask for a cost/benefit analysis for ANY aid program, government or not. ALL of them insist they help, but (almost) none of them want to even TRY to measure how much.
