Title: So what is paleolibertarianism?
Post by: nilecroc on October 16, 2013, 02:32:56 PM
Can someone explain it? I found some sources that claimed it was libertarianism with social conservatism mixed in, and some sources that say it isn't.

Like in our discussion on libertarian populism, you can't have "social conservatism" (where you force your opinion on social matters onto others) and libertarianism at the same time.

I found a list of people that claim to be paleolibertarians, and considering who is on the list I offer the following definition:

" A term of deception used by ultra-right wing statist who happen to not like taxes to give the impression that they value liberty".

When it was originally coined, however, it meant a "true libertarian", as opposed to someone who was only a less aggressive statist.

Usually I find those who label themselves as "Paleolibertarian" tend to have socially conservative positions but they prefer the "State's Rights" as camouflage vs using the blunt force of the federal government
