Title: Opinions about Adam vs. The Man
Post by: Professor_Fennec on October 05, 2013, 04:13:33 AM
I was a listener of Adam vs. The Man, but he got himself into a hell of a lot of hot water.

What do you guys think about this?  Was he taking to many risks, letting himself become to cocky as he taunted the Omnipotent State, or is this really all part of his plan to make a passive resistance stand against the Government?

Personally, I think he got too careless and that's why people are distancing themselves from him as much as possible, but I want to hear what other people think.

I think this is deliberate: he must have known what was coming with all his open defiance. Question is: is it working?

and from what I see, the answer is: no.

What makes me think he got cocky was the fact that he apparently had magic mushrooms with guns on his primary residence.

Any lawyer, even an activist lawyer, will tell you to NEVER break more then one law at a time if you insist upon breaking the law.

Adam got way to cocky and overconfident in my opinion.  Chances are, he'll be put away for at least five years.  The state hates him and will surly make an example out of him.

Expect him to win a lot of converts to anarchy in prison and watch as this becomes his new identity.

That's impossible. It's even impossible if you DON'T try to break the law!

Quite right, but there are so many laws that not even the police and prosecutors could ever memorize them all.  They are forced to prioritize there time.

However, the advice I was given by a NORML lawyer was that very quote, "If you break the law, break one law at a time."  In other words, when driving with weed in your car, don't speed or violate any traffic laws.  Likewise, if you insist upon speeding and violating traffic laws, don't put weed in your car.

In Adam's case, doing political stunts that could get him arrested or even his home searched mean that he should have kept his stash of drugs at a separate location from his home.

Having drugs is a crime, but having guns isn't a crime.  However, having guns and drugs is a bigger crime (for some odd reason) then just having the drugs by themselves.  What the prosecutors do is try to pile on as many crimes as they can find, especially in combination for increased sentences so they can give intimidate you into a plea bargain.

This is why they say, "only break one law at a time".  It makes it harder for you to get caught and if you do get caught, they can't pile on a bunch of other crimes that you'll need a high priced lawyer to defend against.

Prosecutors and police are predators.  They go for the weakest and the fattest among the heard, not the fastest and strongest, unless they are under heavy political pressure to do otherwise.
