Now since this is a message board full of liberty minded people I want to ask the following If a person who said something on twitter that was offensive and the company that employs him fined him for his comments is that a violation of Freedom of speech? Well that is what happened to Jay Briscoe the Ring of Honor Champion when he typed this on twitter
QuoteThe Delaware Senate passed a bill yesterday that allows same sex couples to get married. If that makes you happy, then congratulations!!!!!! try and teach my kids that there's nothing wrong with that and I'll f***ing shoot you
Since then he deleted his twitter account and Ring of honor took his checks from the next two live shows he's going to appear to a charity called Partners Against Hate-http://www.partnersagainsthate.org/ (http://www.partnersagainsthate.org/) and on top of that he apologized as well

But there some fans see here that say his Freedom of speech was violated

Well In My opinion I don't think his rights were violated but I want your thoughts on the matter people.
Just so you know, to embed YouTube videos, only put in the craziness after the "v=" otherwise it won't work.
My first reaction is, "How does a company fine someone?" If they're going to withhold your pay, there'd better be a provision for them doing so in your employment contract.
But this isn't a First Amendment thing. The First Amendment only prevents GOVERNMENT from taking action against you for what you say. A company is perfectly within their rights to fire whomever they want, and so they are free to work out a deal like "Attend this event and we won't fire you."
The difference here is that Ring of Honor is a private company and not a government agency.
If they feel that a worker, especially their champion, is saying things in public that might hurt the reputation of the company, they have a right to do something about it.
I might not necessarily agree with how they're handling it, but they do have a right to say, "Hey, you shouldn't say this while representing us."
