I know, right? Why is Bradley Manning the traitor and not the people in the military who committed human rights atrocities and war crimes?
Frankly though, I would agree the high command is traitorous, but not for the reason you describe; what you described is why they deserve a war crimes tribunal.

Hopefully if Manning gets the Peace Prize they'll feel the pressure to let him go free. The American people ignore a lot of shit, but locking up a Nobel Peace Prize winner will make the news and stay in the news.
