I think "Idiot Extraordinaire" is too kind to give to Liz Trotta. Personally, I think she's too vile to simply be considered an idiot.

Another group guilty of rape in the military is those lovely contractors. http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=9342 (http://www.cato.org/pub_display.php?pub_id=9342)

*Sighs*
The worst are the people who claim that because the contractors are even less efficient than the state run military, we therefore need our government to continue to fund, run and own the military.
Nevermind that they get at least their funding from the government, albeit less directly...

The cheapest way to do things that are counter productive is to not do them at all.  For some reason some people think that Libertarian opposition to the Wars are purely financial. I'm against torture, but I doubt that will bring down the Deficit much.

Totally saw biggest bogon emitter going.  Been reading about it in the papers and the "side with the child pornographers" comment was NOT well received.  Even members of his own party have been throwing him under the bus for that.

I loved the rant about the republican party in the Ron Paul bit. Well done. :3

From this edition:

"The Republican Party is a corrupt organization that, from the state level to the national, works to keep its power structure in place and safe from challengers. This is what Ron Paul and his supporters need to realize: their goal should NOT be to work within the Republican Party; it should be to expose this corrupt--possibly even criminal--organization for what it is and make sure it goes down. After Paul is prevented from being the nominee by hook or by crook, he and his supporters should abandon the Republican Party to being an obsolete, meaningless organization, fated to either collapse under its own weight, or wither into irrelevancy."

Now, post-convention, I think these words have been well and truly vindicated.

Yeah, I remember that rant. I think the Paul supporters for the most part understand the corruption of the Republican party. In fact so much that hearing them complain about unfairness can be kind of annoying after a while. But I think the idea is to try and influence some of the party platforms and take what power can be obtained at local levels.

The biggest problem with supporting a 3rd party like the Libertarian party is that first past the post voting pretty much always makes it impossible for a 3rd party to have significant influence - or at least to win office. Change would have to come from the people first, and then both parties would have to change their platforms to placate the people. But that's probably true for most forms of democracy/republic regardless of voting method.
