Speaking of Utilitarian Ethics:

Is this fucked up or what?

I love how "stop making everyone pay for everyone else's medical bills" doesn't even occur to these people.  Ugh...and people call me a crazy conspiracy theorist when I say that socialist healthcare lets politicians get their foot in the door on your personal life.
I recently heard that the word heretic is derived from the greek work heriticos which means "able to choose"
The more you know...

Absolutely.
In fact, something I've always wondered is how we can have social liberty without economic liberty and the othe way around.
When you lose one, you lose the other.  If not right away, or as a direct result, then soon.

Here's how I would make the liberty chart.
I would start with the standard Nolan chart (maybe changing it to include a wider range; like that 160 question version on OKCupid.com ) and have it as follows:
Economic liberty on one side.
Social liberty on the other side.

Personal liberty as the combination of the two.
Where P == Personal Liberty.
S == Social Liberty.
E == Economic Liberty.

Then P = (S*E)^(1/2)
Where, if S = E
then,
P = S = E.

And this:

So what do you make of the article (the link in the journal/blog)?
If it's anything like his verbose, muddled, and overly philosophically complicated posts, I wouldn't understand any of it.

Never-mind the fact that he conflates the political right with libertarianism, and libertarianism with anarchy (unless he's talking about anarcho-capitalism).
Not a good sign.

I also wish he would have defined "state" in little preamble.
If he means the definition used by anti-statists, which would be: "A geopolitical monopoly on the 'legitimate' initiation of force, insofar as the use of first-strike force would be considered illegitimate if used via people who aren't acting as agents of the state; an extortion racket; a legitimized mafia;"--My youtube profile, meaning that is what we are against.  That is, the people who provide the services of police, courts, defense, or of any other good/service get their funds by the initiation of force (tax money seized from the population).  (But that's neither here, nor there.)
Then his point about rights would read: "you can't have rights without someone violating your right to self ownership."
However, if he means positive rights, then I can concur (more or less).
But certainly not negative, natural rights.

So...what you're basicaly saying is that you're single and really, really want to find a date?
Or why this sudden surge of OK Cupid links?

Um, no.  I'm single and not looking.
I registered there only for the quizzes, questions and personality/psychology stuff.
Given the large number of liberals (and conservatives) there, I naturally see a large amount of stupidity while looking for tests and the like.
Hence, I often feel the need to post crap I see, so others can facepalm too.
