This article talks about failed assassination attempts that would have changed history greatly had they succeeded.

Lot of people praise FDR though most of us beg to differ.  Anyone have an alternate take on what might have happened if FDR had never taken office?  I'm curious.
I recently heard that the word heretic is derived from the greek work heriticos which means "able to choose"
The more you know...

I'm no historian, but I would imagine it wouldn't have made that big a difference.
Chances are Herbert Hoover would have been elected again instead (if FDR hadn't gotten into office) and we'd have had more of the same.
"When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world—'No. You move.'"
-Captain America, Amazing Spider-Man 537

It really depends on who FDR's VP would have been at the time of the assassination.  If it was Wallace things would have been a lot more collectivist.  Henry Wallace made FDR look like a libertarian by comparison.  If it was Truman, things would have likely gone the same.
