According to Morrakiu, they both have the same outcome, but the public ones cost about twice as much.
I smell bullshit.  I would imagine that the private schools DO much better in terms of grades, test scores, etc.
I still haven't gotten a source from him.

If he's comparing high schools, he's right. Student performance is what it is by that time; it's too late then to have a real chance of improving students.

What you need is a study showing elementary school students in public and private schools, and accounting for the crossover (public school students moving to private schools and vice-versa) as they move into high school. When studies like this are done, private schools win out beautifully.

Damn.
I was concerned because, according to John Stossel, the longer students stay in public schools (from about middle school on to high school), the worse the students do on the same material on standardized tests.

Update:

Morrakiu: "http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1670063,00.html
'Contrary to popular belief, we can find no evidence that private schools actually increase student performance,'
'Catholic schools run by holy orders (not those overseen by the local bishop) turned out to perform better than other schools studied.'
MINDFUCK

They still cost much less. There's that profit incentive working its EVIL magic."

I was wondering if/when he'd give me a source.

Easy answer is to check where all the politicians bleating about the importance of public education are sending THEIR kids.
I recently heard that the word heretic is derived from the greek work heriticos which means "able to choose"
The more you know...
