Sounds very much like what the regime in Venezuela is saying, doesn't it.

The Arab Spring sounded like such a good idea at the time.  And every country where it materialized has gone to shit as a result.  Many Egyptians are lucky compared to a lot of people in Syria and Libya.  At least Egypt doesn't have rampant warfare and multiple unchecked gangs of murderous thugs.

not quite all: Tunisia (all things considered), is better off, even with the Salafis causing trouble here and there.

War is unlikely (though not impossible) to occur in Egypt: those guys are so used to being one country that the thought of dividing on themselves sort of scares them.

So they put up with assholes like al-sisi.
