News of the Bogus:
17:59 - Biggest Bogon Emitter: Barack Obama  http://thefederalist.com/2016/07/12/no-president-obama-its-not-easier-to-buy-a-glock-than-a-book/

27:39 - Idiot Extraordinaire: Vladimir Putin https://meduza.io/en/news/2016/07/07/putin-gives-federal-security-agents-two-weeks-to-produce-encryption-keys-for-the-internetThis Week's Quote: "There is no instance of a nation benefitting from prolonged warfare." —Sun Tzu

Both Politifact and WaPo fact checker are calling Obama out on his statement:

Politifact says "Mostly False"
WaPo gives it 3 Pinocchios
Working every day to expose the terrible price we pay for government.

And Politifact labeling it any higher than "Absolutely Fucking Ridiculous" just shows their bias. Do you REALLY think they would have given George W. Bush such a break? They went at him more for saying less stupid stuff...

The USSR enjoyed early advantages in the space race because they were LESS technologically advanced than the US.  The US developed smaller nuclear bombs, so the rockets needed to deliver them were corresponding smaller.  The USSR was forced to build bigger rockets to be able to deliver their own warheads, so they had bigger rockets when they started trying to launch satellites.

Unfortunately for them, the reason the USSR was unable to make smaller bombs also kept them from being able to build the instruments they wanted to place aboard their satellites fast enough.  They had been developing a quite sophisticated and useful package of things that was supposed to be Sputnik I, but the leadership wanted to get a 'First!', and they had to cobble together little more than a radio beacon in a silver ball.  They kept the mentality of being 'First!' rather than useful for a long time, including sending up the first mammal (with no return capability, little data return, and grossly insufficient life support), a spacewalk (that almost killed Yuri Gagarin getting back in since they hadn't considered that with the suit fully pressurized it was impossible to move through the tunnel back into the ship, and with the suit depressurized enough to maneuver through the tunnel the air inside was too thin to breath), the first woman in space (a factory worker who lacked the skill or knowledge to actually do anything in any way useful on her flight, being what NASA flight crew called a 'spam-in-a-can' mission), and space stations (where the crews were given so little to do they were bored out of their minds).

I do see bias at Poltifact, yes.  But not to extent where they're kissing Sam Seder's ring.
Here's an article they've written after the Orlando shooting on gun violence in general

I DO emphasize point #7 how many "regressives" do you hear saying that there's no casual relationship between gun laws and gun crime?  At LEAST Politifact is willing to say, "so far it's just a correlation".

Yeah, but there's not even a correlation! At least, not in their direction.

I'd have gone with "totally false".

Ah yea, Putin: president if Russia. That "sainted" muffin! That's how you know Russia isn't out of the woods yet, and has a long way to go.
