This Week's Quote: "Governments, by their nature, are instruments of privilege." —Robert LeFevre

For those to young to remember the hearings, certain prominent Democrats (notably Ted Kennedy) publicly stated they would vote against confirming Clarence Thomas BEFORE the phase where claims against him were rebutted.  The pretended reason was a series of absurd acusations of sexual harrasment by a woman who turned out to have followed HIM from agency to agency during his career.  The real reason was that he was already known to be an opponent of racism in the form of affirmative action.

Incidentally, the fact that modern propellants (which anything firing 5.56x45mm ammo WILL be using) don't produce sulfurous odors when used was the first thing that I noticed was obviously wrong in the desccription of firing an AR-15.  This is probabl because while I have never fired any sort of firearm in my life, I DO know a fair bit of chemistry.  The description of the brass coming past his face was the next most obvious error, since I do know that ALL rifles that self-load when fired are designed to eject their brass away from any part of the user's body when in a normal use position (fresh brass tending to be dangerously hot).  It isn't like it's a new kind of rifle, we've been making these things for MANY decades now, and all the obvious (and many of the inobvious) use problems have been fixed for a long time.

I mostly remember what a laugh everyone thought it was a Teddy Kennedy officiating hearings of Thomas being a sexual harrasser...

I think he was just on the confirmation committee at the time.  Of course, this was still when everyone knew he was drinking like a fish AND HE WAS STILL BEING ELECTED.

Seriously, the sheeple of Taxachussets would vote for a dead rat if it was on the Democratic ticket.

And you just earned your 30th cluon for that!  Makes me wonder if Bill Clinton also was with Kennedy on this one...

It's as absurd as Saudi Arabia being on a human rights committee for the UN--it's that crazy.

Oh, wait...
