Going back a long ways, back in the 200 election campaign, Bush campaigned on a platform that included what was called a "humble foreign policy," which was apparently supposed to mean not pulling the kind of crap he's remembered for pulling after 9/11.

So, my question (for those who were following these things back in the day), did Bush do anything actually different back in the months between his inauguration and 9/11?

Wow, that IS back a long ways! So, do you think King Odin kept all his campaign promises? :p

(Fun fact: I'm actually descended from King Odin!)

Nope. He was ALWAYS looking for an excuse to attack Saddam. Pretty much right off the bat, when he met with his advisers after the 9/11 attacks, he asked if this could be tied to Iraq.

Genealogy. To tell the truth, it's probably me and a billion other whities. Those Scandanavian kings did get around...

I was thinking more along the lines of the campaign between Septimius Severus and Clodius Albinus in 197 personally. It did not end well....Roman elections were fucked up.

and yeah, was Odin even a real guy? I thought he was basically the Germanic version of Jupiter or Zeus. And do people ever really keep proper geneologies in *insert you favorite part of the western world*?

I mean, they do back home, and my ancestry is comparatively boring: the guy who founded the family was a Iraqi guy from the time of Saladin (and was likely Kurdish). I heard stories of him being a standard bearer, but I have no details. his descendents settled in Hebron after the 3rd Crusade (at the earliest).
Meh

Our elections are more like their chariot races.

Yes, he was the first King of Scandanavia. People were superstitious then and believed he got elevated to godhood, so that's how he became the leader of the Asgard. Odin (or Wotan) was the name he assumed as king; he was originally Sigge Fridulfson.

If you want Westerners who do genealogy, look at the Mormons. NO ONE does genealogy better than them!

yeah, I'm still skeptical. but you have given me a name, and with that I can start looking into this Sigge fellow.

I will not take geneology advice from a people who think the Israelites settled in America....a spiritual journey involving a pegasus is about as far as I can take it...
