And here's their reasoning:

QuoteYour account does not contain sufficient original new content that represents the uniqueness of our community.

WTF??? Did they not see Bogosity? Did they not see How Evolution Is Scientific? Did they not see COUNTLESS scientific and economic videos that were 100% ORIGINAL???

Here are their criteria for partners:

QuoteTo become a YouTube Partner, you must meet these minimum requirements:

    * You create original videos suitable for online streaming.
    * You own or have express permission to use and monetize all audio and video content that you upload -- no exceptions.
    * You regularly upload videos that are viewed by thousands of YouTube users.

Check, check, and CHECK! Even my little throwaway videos like the bird's nest get over 2,000 views! In HALF A MONTH!

This makes no sense. I don't even CARE about the money; I just want to be able to upload videos more than 10 minutes long!

Geez...

That's bullshit. If it were up to me, you'd have been a youtube partner long ago.

Maybe you should upload a few movie reviews that consisted of screaming into the camera about how horrible Twilight was, or release a youtube poop? =P

Have you written them back to ask them about this?

Come on, I think we all know by now there aren't any actual people at the other end of that email.

That's it?
Go figure.  I had always thought you just had to have a certain number of subscribers or above to be set.

LOL, They still haven't processed my DMCA counter claim and I filed it a month ago or more. I'm not sure they actually even check the e-mails.

Were you re-instated? By law, you HAVE to be re-instated after nine business days if the other party doesn't respond.

I was never suspended, they finally processed it, I haven't checked to see if the video is back up or not. The work was clearly fair use and the other party won't respond.

Again, they HAVE to put the video back up after 9 business days.

They haven't, it was filed on June 4th, I filed my counter claim right away and it is still down. The counter claim was processed just this past week.

You could make a video calling the YouTube community to action, and get high-rollers like Thunderf00t to pass it on.

I should, I might start working on that. Of course, I would just get suspended for my troubles.

Then get a lawyer. They're in violation of 17 USC § 512(g)(2)(B).

(And it's actually 14 business days, my mistake.)
