He said "or comic book character."

My second choice would be Rorshach.

I know. I'm just specifically excluding superheroes: V is the only choice I really liked, since he is no superhero, and fights oppressive governments.

@ skm1091: I believe he did.

Meh

How about Punisher?

If you can take from video games what do you think Hanzo Hasashi AKA. Scorpion from Mortal Kombat?

Then Akumetsu (The manga has been described as V for Vendetta meets The Punisher meets Atlas Shrugged)

didn't batman beat superman a couple times?

Yeah, when it was written by Frank Miller and even then, it was stupidly mismatched.  Batman had months of preparation to Superman having none and Batman had outside help as well.

In comics written by people better able to keep their fanboyism in check, Batman has even acknowledged that he'd be no match for Superman if he didn't hold back.
I recently heard that the word heretic is derived from the greek work heriticos which means "able to choose"

Oh yeah, I Batman could beat almost everyone if he preps for months. He heard he used kryptonite too. Can anyone say cheap?

I also read a while back one of the few people who could go toe to toe with Superman, at full strength, and possibly beat him is J'onn J'onzz aka Martian Manhunter. Another one was Al Simmons aka Spawn, at least from the Armageddon Arc.

Kryptonite is not the deal breaker it's made out to be.  Superman DOES have ways to counter it.
