For a while now I've been going through stages of being able to think logically and critically, usually after watching a youtube video (i.e. one of shane's or some other youtuber who does videos one politics, economics, science, etc.) or reading a book\article and then either feeling anxiety or being unable to process new information , especially in the area of politics. Does anyone know what might be the cause of this?

My first guess would be information overload.

Maybe. I've noticed that it usually happens when I read something that I disagree with.

When this happens, are you able to articulate why you disagree? If not, it's simple frustration.

Make sure it's not cognitive dissonance: anxiety caused by a contradiction between your beliefs and reality.

Also note that having cognitive dissonance does not automatically make the thing you're reading correct; it's completely internal. You need to get rid of it and properly evaluate the claim.
