Many in the United States are at odds over the National Security Agency (NSA) whistleblower, Edward Snowden, and this includes the country's celebrities. Wanda Sykes, a stand-up comedienne, made her own opinions on Snowden very clear Friday night on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno. When asked what she think she happen to Snowden, Sykes stated, "They should get him back here, try him, and he rots in a jail."

Sykes told Leno how she had previously worked for the NSA herself and had top security clearance. "I believe Snowden, he got a GED, I believe," Sykes said. "I got a college degree, Jay, and you like, 'oh, it's the same thing as Snowden' what the hell?" General Educational Development (GED) are a group of tests to certify the taker has high school-level education skills.

Sykes continued the discussion with Leno. Leno asked her how she felt about the NSA scandal, and the comedian responded, "The NSA works on a need-to-know basis, that's how we stay safe, right? So, now he's putting it out there, 'Oh, the government's spying on everybody.' First of all, how arrogant are you to think that your conversations are that important? Think about the stuff you talked about today, and do you really think anybody wants to listen to that garbage?"

Sykes is a noted supporter of President Barack Obama and in May 2009 was the first African American woman and the first openly LGBT person to be the featured entertainer for the annual White House Correspondents' Association dinner.
