Although it has been a while since I touched on this subject I decided it should be good to bring it up after my trip through tokenlibertariangirls background check vid. Remember that poster that said that there have been no massacres in Australia after the Port Arthur Massacre in 1996 on one of Blamethe1st's post on deviantart?

No massacres after 96? Pfffffft, Don't make me laugh?

Besides all I have to do to disprove anyone using the Australian card is just point to neighbor New Zealand. There Semi Auto Rifle's and Self loading/Pump action shotguns are LEGAL. Want proof? Here is a video of a New Zealander shooting an L1A1 SLR, an FNFAL variant, and a gun that has been illegal in Australia since 1996.

And bellow is a study that shows the NZ and AU comparison

Interestingly New Zealand's Homicide rate is slightly lower than Australia's according to the 2012 UNODC per 100,000 homicide stats.

Thanks a bunch man  ;D

Now I'm thinking of doing one for the UK.

As a New Zealander, I can corroborate this. Shootings are relatively rare over here, even accounting for higher gun ownership than Aus.

Do you have no gun zones by the way, or not? Just curious.
Meh

Off the top of my head, there is no specific no-gun zones, in that there aren't signs that point out "no guns allowed."

It's generally implied that if you legally own a gun, that you a responsible and civil with it (I.e. not carrying it out in the open in public; doing that will generally summon the Armed Offenders Squad of the police :P)

And they are decreasing in the United States, down from 42 in the 1990s to 26 in the 2000s.

You guys are ranked 22 in the guns per 100,000

Australia is ranked at 42

I love how gun control advocates tell us that Australia had twelve massacres from the 1980s-2000s and zero since. That of course is not including the arsons I mentioned. New Zealand, within the same period, despite having more lenient laws, had only FOUR, and only TWO of them (Aramoana and Raurimu) were public.

BTW "sporting type" rifles/shotguns include semi auto, bolt and pump action, am I correct?

The types you mentioned are all legal within the country. Hell, even fully auto weapons is legal as long as you don't fire them. From the experience of those whom have gotten firearm licences, as long as the gun isn't a fully automatic weapon (even then, as mentioned above), it's not too difficult to get a firearm of pretty much any configuration.

On a related note, suppressors are completely deregulated over here, meaning that you can get a suppressor for pretty much any gun on earth. The law generally assumes that you own a licences gun, thus there is no need to regulate a single aspect of a gun.

So you can get shotguns or rifles like these on an A licence? (See pictures bellow)

Remington 870, 12 gauge, pump action

SKS, 7.62X39mm, semi auto

I know for "Military Style Semi Automatics" like AR-10s You need a different licences. E licence to be exact (See picture bellow)

I also heard for MSSAs you can only own three. Any truth to this?
