should I do this?

so, It's been almost a year since I graduated (the anniversary is in three days), and I am no closer to starting work. I have searched dozens of companies, applied to hundreds of jobs, and have not had any luck. No company or place I apply to--not even a fucking McDonalds--want to have anything to do with me. basically, I can't seem to find anyone who will just hire me already. I've also tried my hands before at making money on my own: for example, by making videos (as a partner on YT). but this is unprofitable (a few pennies for  several hours of work). I have tried being a computer Turk, but it cannot generate anywhere near what is required to pay off my debts from when I was in College. I've even nearly been suckered into a couple of Pyramid schemes (which luckily I realized before I put any money into them)--so desperate was I for work.

there is only one option I see still open (which is where the title comes in): to join the military-a suggestion being pushed on me by mom (as much as she denies doing so), and specifically the air force. But that has serious problems to it, if you know me. I'd be asked to be part of an organization that kills those of my people and faith, and it violates every principle I know. plus, I'm not sure the pay would be enough to begin paying off my debts. Added to that, it will almost certainly kill my employability (as it exists) as a Geologist, since I'll be away from anything Geology for a total of four year (so they'll assume I don't remember any  of it), and it would last more than long enough to terminate my eligibility for graduate school (which requires a GRE, which either way I won't have the money to take, once out of the military).

and yet if I don't get some sort of job, the fuckers at Sallie Mae are going to put me into default, which would make me totally unemployable for a decade at  least.

is this the right choice? to join the military? as it is I don't see any other options in front of me. and frankly, looking at how my classmates are doing (i.e., very well, and happily employed), I can't help but think I don't have what it takes to do well as a geologist, or as a productive member of society, and worse, as a good Palestinian man. I mean, what is a measure of a man but his ability to provide for himself and his family?

I have two:

1-Albukhshi (most of my videos are here: science related)
2-Flyingjustacorps1990 (don't ask, but the videos there are two in number, and are for my modding work).

Thanks for the subscription!

but I'm not quite sure I follow. It also doesn't answer the question I have about the justifiability of joining the military to pay off the debts I have (from a moral sense).

Your moral decisions are up to your own conscience to decide. But maybe you could join the Coast Guard or something, if it's combat you have the problems with.

It's not a lot of money, but if you can type, you could try https://scribie.com/freelance-transcription?rc=54c2c25ced1b1e54c0b51d49cebc303e605f2d7d.

The application process takes about a month; and there is no guarantee you will be selected. (They selected me, so the standard can't be that high.) If what the guy in VectorM's video says is remotely true, you'll basically start off (if your on the low speed of typists) making what you would if you joined the military.

You couldn't get a spot in the Army Corp of Engineers with your degree?

I don't think that addresses the moral concern.  Almost everything they build is to support the ability to kill people and impose US Government will somewhere it has no business being in the first place in a manner that actually makes the US worse off than it would otherwise have been.

You could try to be a cop, maybe?

REHWR: not an option either.

well, thinking about this (and I'll likely regret it), I've decided not to join--for the time being.

which just leaves one more question: how can I make money? As it is, I have a few sources of possible revenue (a couple blogs, video channels, etc). but none have had any luck. If I can attract many more viewers or followers, I would be in luck.

I've applied to the place dallen68 suggested, but the waiting list....is long. very long (as of this writing, 226 days). and that is just to take some examination.

I'm sorry to hear that. I wish I could do more for you.
