Dark times might be coming here in Bulgaria.

So 3 weeks from now, our government will vote on a new law that will allow the police to monitor our Internet conversations, phone calls, pretty much every source of information. Now I know Shane might jump in an tell me that it wouldn't really work,how the government will  suck at it like everything else, but what really frightens me is that this is even remotely acceptable.

I mean, pretty much everyone in Bulgaria knows at this point, that our government sucks, has sucked and will continue to suck in the future. And yet, pretty much everyone is a statist over here. Everything (and I mean FUCKING EVERYTHING) bad that happens is then expected to be fixed by the government. "Our national sports team sucks, the government should fix it". "Our health care system sucks, the government should fix it". And it goes on like this. And now, after nearly 20 cases of kidnapping this year, our ruling party decided to take some extreme measures. And I have to hear those stupid arguments again: "If you do nothing wrong, what's the problem?" And when you ask these same people if they would let you monitor them with cameras all day long, they say "NO!"...

And if this passes and then fails miserably, guess what will happen? "THE GOVERNMENT DIDN'T DO ENOUGH!!!"

Statism is a mental condition, seriously. At least in my country, it most definitely is.

It's an addiction and like any addiction, they have to hit a bottom before they'll admit they have a problem and seek help.
I recently heard that the word heretic is derived from the greek work heriticos which means "able to choose"

Sadly this rock bottom includes having ultra right wingers getting into power, protests where the police has to resort to extreme measures to protect the "peace" and maybe some small or medium scale conflict either within or without it's borders resulting in thousand if not ten thousands of deaths. But it will make a smashing film in fourty or fifty years time.

Snowballs are serious business. You have any idea how many people get injured in snowball related accidents? Think about the children.
