Well, I hope everyone living in the US or who is a US citizen got their paperwork filed in time (ours is due postmarked two weeks from tomorrow).

Here's a useful fact for dealing with anyone who claims that the IRS is an efficient organization at collecting taxes because they have a budget that's small compared to the tax monies they collect:  According to the IRS's own figures, in 2010 the number of hours expended by individuals to do their portion of compliance with personal income tax filing requirements in the US (never mind what it cost businesses to do their side) was 50% than the number of hours put in by the entire US Federal civil service.  While the money allocated to operate the IRS is small for the revenue acquired, they can only do that by transferring almost the entire burden of the paperwork to the taxpayers directly.

well, I didn't make any money last year, so it's straight-forward for me....
Meh

Actually this year it is the 17th because April 15th fell on a Sunday and the 16th is a holiday in Massachussets.

Canada does the same:  If April 30 falls on a Saturday or Sunday (as it did last year) the filing date shifts to the following Monday.  Easter can't come later than April 25, and the next holiday in Canada is Victoria Day, which falls on May 21 this year, and cannot fall earlier than May 18, so holidays can't come up.  (It's also the date of the Queens Official Birthday in Canada.  This is nice if she happens to be visiting, as it doesn't interfere with her Official Birthday in the UK, which is in June.)
