I don't keep it much of a secret what I think of the Libertarian National Committee, the group in charge of the national Libertarian Party. But it seems like they just get worse over time. Case in point:

http://www.lp.org/poll/should-the-libertarian-party-list-presidential-candidates-at-its-web-site

Should the Libertarian Party list presidential candidates (for the LP nomination) at its web site?

Results:

Yes. List every Libertarian presidential candidate that we know of without qualification. 29%

Limited: List every candidate who is a dues-paying member of the LP and has a functioning web site. 21%

Limited: List every candidate who meets the above criteria, plus meets the approval of at least 5 LNC members. 15%

Limited: List every candidate who meets the criteria and is not disqualified by at least 12 (2/3rds) of LNC members. 15%

Limited: List every candidate who petitions LP members and gets at least 100 to approve their being listed. 10%

No. Candidates should generate their own publicity and makes themselves known to LP members. 7%

Use other limits, or do something else: Go to our Facebook page and post your ideas! 2%

Total votes: 2934

And on this page:

QuoteThe candidates running for the Libertarian nomination for president have been removed per the vote of the Libertarian National Committee.

It's hard to find words...

Not just the LNC. You know my feelings towards the LPF leadership.

The mandatory floor fee passed today. Expect quite a few anti-third party states to label this a poll tax and try to keep the LP's presidential candidate off the ballot. Oh, and the 2016 convention went to goddamn Los Angeles.

WHAT??? They're not supposed to have the same area of the country twice in a row! The East Coast was supposed to get the next one!

QuoteYes, we have fewer people coming, but they are HIGHER QUALITY people, VERY HIGH QUALITY PEOPLE.

Wayne Allyn Root when someone said that the floor fee would deter those who make less than $40,000 a year

Also, I want to see just what LA's bid was. I know Orlando was the cheapest and Jacksonville was willing to throw in alot of stuff like free cocktail receptions and buffets.

Here's a petition to overrule the floor fees decision of the LNC:

If 140 sustaining members sign, the action can be brought before the Judiciary Committee. They're shooting for 300 signatures all total.

According to Chuck Moulton, the only LNC members who voted against the floor fee were Jim Lark, Norm Olsen, Doug Craig, Vicki Kirkland, and Mary Ruwart. Guess we know whom to keep and whom to vote out!

I don't know if I count as a sustaining member anymore. They sent me a renewal notice last year and it spot to give a reason why you weren't renewing. I just wrote down "Wayne Allyn Root" and mailed it back to them.

No, you have to pay the dues to be a sustaining member. I haven't given them money in a long while. Still, the more signatures the better.

Florida statute 103.095(2) reads, "Each elector registered to vote in the minor political party in which he or she has so designated has a fundamental right to fully and meaningfully participate in the business and affairs of the minor political party without any monetary encumbrance."

A mandatory floor fee would, without question, be considered a monetary encumbrance for participation in the business of the minor political party for Florida delegates. The penalty for violation of Florida Statute 103.095 is termination of state-recognized political party status.
