Cheapest Silver Coin Ever

I don't know if its because I live in a city with a big mint, but I'm always finding rare coins in my change. This never happened when I lived in Michigan. Today I used the self checkout at the grocery store and in my change was a 1948D quarter. 90% silver.

I'm always on the lookout for pre-1964 quarters. They don't show up often, but enough to make it worthwhile to check. All you really have to do is look at the edge and see if there's a copper "sandwich"; if not, then it's silver, baby!

frankly, I wish all the money was silver or gold. it would be a big improvement.....

but on that note: my mom keeps a silver dollar actually. she is fiercely protective of it, and she won't even let us know where in the house it is.

I can now tell a silver coin by feel and weight. I've been acquiring them for a while as a hobby.
