Don't kid yourself. They'll say that this is bad, but the state should still do everything in its power to stop people from making money.

Things like this remind me of the "liberal douche" meme (http://memegenerator.net/Liberal-Douche-Garofalo)

With regards to the article itself, haven't they (the US government) heard of Kranzberg's first law of technology: "Technology is neither good nor bad; nor is it neutral." Next they'll have to censor the design of breeze blocks since they also can be used as 'weapons'  :P

but scientists like me won't make s*** from just the university; we all make money from publishing our papers to an extent*-the publishing company makes even more money, and depends on these things being published.

Not only that, but for science to advance, the scientific information has to be completely uncensored. in matters of medicine this is the most important aspect, as lives depend on it. you know how Avian flu happens, then you can find out how to kill it.

in short: This act if it is successful, will amount to manslaughter.

*it's how you keep your tenure afterall: do a good job attracting attention to your discoveries. at least that is how it works in the geosciences- especially paleontology.
