"This is not what the FDA was created to do."

I beg to differ.  This is EXACTLY what the FDA was created to do.  Help big companies get rid of competitors under pretenses of protecting the public.

Good to hear big internet sites like google are opposing the bill.  Though I think they're wasting their breath writing a letter to the state about it.  What I'd love is a full list of companies who are supporting the bill so everyone can boycott them.
I recently heard that the word heretic is derived from the greek work heriticos which means "able to choose"
The more you know...

Okay, that's not what the FDA was OSTENSIBLY created to do.

Between the FDA declaring walnuts to be drugs and congress declaring pizza is a vegetable, if you can't see how incompetent government is, nothing can ever help you.

EDIT: I posted the chickenpox story on Facebook.......and got this reply.
QuoteI don't know where you guys are comin' from, but when I was a kid it was pretty common for parents to swap us all around so that we would get chicken pox out of the way early. Chicken pox can kill an adult, but for a kid it's just a week or so of itching. And once you've had it as a kid, it is HIGHLY unlikely to ever get it again. Much more effective than any vaccine.

Of course, deliberately exposing your children to chicken pox as young as possible so that they get it as early as possible (when the chances of complications are lowest) was one thing when there WASN'T a vaccine, but it's a completely different thing now that there IS.

I suspect people are still feeling cultural echos of the fiasco with the early mass administration of the Salk polio vaccine (where sloppy work by third-party pharmaceutical companies resulted in vaccine containing some live virus instead of all killed virus, leading to a polio outbreak).
