"The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."

I think we're all against the income tax based on the principle that government has no right to claim any percentage of someone's hard work. However, when this topic comes up in discussion you also hear about how the 16th amendment was never legitimately nor legally ratified. How true is this, or is this merely conspiracy theory? One site I've constantly run into when searching the topic myself was thelawthatneverwas.com by Bill Genson. He received a permanent injunction in 2008 by the Federal District Court of Chicago on the grounds of claiming that the law was never legally ratified. Is there any legitimacy to the argument or is it pure bogosity?

It's pure bogosity. You'll often run into people who supposedly have found the right magic words to say in court or whatever to get out of the system. The fact is, ANYONE can get away without paying income taxes for three years, five years, seven...but after awhile, the amount of back taxes makes it worth the IRS's while to come after you. Every single one I followed over the years ended up in jail.

The ratification of the 16th Amendment is well documented. The Income Tax is an abomination; unfortunately, it's a perfectly constitutional abomination.

Ah okay. Well, at least that clears that argument up. That only further adds fail to that stupid cartoon I posted in fail quotes.
